Preview and choose your text options

Select Convert to TXT and review the text preview. Use Copy text to place the complete result on your clipboard, or Download TXT to save a UTF-8 text file. Reset clears the workspace so you can choose another file. Your original SRT file is not overwritten.
What Gets Removed When You Convert SRT to TXT?
An SRT subtitle is arranged in cues: a sequence number, a start and end timestamp, and one or more lines of text. Converting it to TXT removes the sequence numbers and timing lines, leaving the text in its original cue order. Numbers that are part of the dialogue remain in the text.
Unicode text is preserved, including accented letters and non-Latin scripts. Speaker labels, music cues and tags such as <i> stay as written. Plain text means the result has no subtitle timing structure; it does not mean that markup is automatically stripped or that the dialogue is corrected.
The two formatting options control line breaks within cues and blank lines between cues. They do not combine repeated captions, translate text or reconstruct paragraphs. Keep the source subtitle file alongside your TXT copy if you may need the original timing later.

Both formats can be opened in a text editor. SRT adds the structure a video player needs to display each cue at a particular time. The TXT result is easier to reuse when you only need the words.

When Should You Convert SRT to Text?
Use this conversion when you already have subtitles and want to work with their text outside a video player. The exported file reflects the source captions, so short fragments and repeated lines may still need editing for your intended use.
- Read a transcript. Follow the dialogue without a timing line interrupting every cue. Add blank lines if you want each subtitle entry to stand apart.
- Find a quote. Open the TXT file in your preferred editor and search for a phrase. Refer back to the SRT when you need its playback time.
- Prepare notes. Copy selected passages into your notes or a document, then add your own context. The converter preserves the source wording for reference.
- Edit subtitle text. Review spelling or repeated wording in a plain text copy. Changes to that copy do not update the original timed subtitle file.

Can I convert SRT to TXT with timestamps?
The current TXT output removes subtitle timestamps. There is no option to include timecodes in the exported text. Keep your original SRT if you need to look up when a line is spoken or use the subtitles for timed video playback.
Why is my file rejected or my preview shortened?
The tool accepts one UTF-8 SRT file at a time, including UTF-8 with a BOM, up to 5 MB. Invalid timestamps or malformed cue blocks can stop conversion; read the displayed error before trying again. The input preview shows at most 20 cues and 12,000 characters, and the output preview is limited to 12,000 characters. Copy and download include the complete converted text.
